Strap Guide: Universal Geneve Polerouter

Strap Guide written by @wonger.bonger. Thank you Daniel!

Introduction

Hello y’all! Daniel (@wonger.bonger) here. First of all, thank you for reading this guide, it means a lot to me that you are here! When Ken approached me to do a strap guide for the Polerouter, I wanted to do something different. As we all know, the Polerouter looks great on many different straps. However, I wanted to really show that the Polerouter can do so much better than just different shades of brown and black. It’s easy to pair the Polerouter with a nice matte brown croc strap and call it a day. However, for this strap guide, I took it as a challenge to find unexpected pairings that normally one wouldn’t expect the Polerouter to pull off. Here are my choices.

Sun Yellow Epsom Slim Strap

So here's my first combo. Something light and bright, for those perfect casual summer evenings. You know the ones I'm talking about. The ones with friends, perfect weather, and a beer or two. Paired with a simple t-shirt and sweater, the Polerouter on the Yellow Epsom Slim Strap is certainly eye-catching! The yellow epsom dress down the Polerouter, but the full contrast white stitch still gives it just a touch of class. Yes, this combo is a little loud. However, I think the whole point of having different straps is to swap them out for different occasions. And for a nice summer evening on the patio with friends, a little loudness fits the occasion perfectly.

Turquoise Waxy Slim Strap

For the second strap, I picked the Navy Waxy Slim Strap. Despite the name, this strap has a lot of green in it! The full stitching makes it a perfect companion to dress up with, but the unique color helps to bring out the casual vibes quite a bit as well. The green hues pairs well with a green shirt, and the blue hues pair well with the jeans. In a way, the strap mirrors the versatility of the Polerouter. It can be as dressy or as casual as you want it to be, whichever way you decide to go.

Navy Pueblo Row-Stitch Strap

For the third pick, I went with the Navy Pueblo Row Stitch strap, I absolutely love the texture and color of this leather! It developed a beautiful, distressed look as I wore it, and the blue is perfect for a casual yet elevated look. The style of stitching on this strap as well as the color makes it a very casual look. It’s certainly not a strap you’d wear to a dinner party or paired with a three-piece suit. I paired it with jeans, a dark blue sweatshirt, a warm dark blue puffy vest, and a velvet brown blazer. I think it's a good business casual look that allows the watch and strap to pop from the duller colors of the outfit.

Rust Crazy Horse Side-Stitch Strap

Possibly the “safest” strap choice, here's the Polerouter on the Rust Crazy Horse side stitch strap for the fourth entry. I love how the leather has patinated, just like the rose gold case on the Polerouter. The warmth of the leather also compliments the rose gold perfectly. Yes, this combo isn't anything "bold" or colorful like the other choices, but I think it's one that'll work on any occasion. It’s a backup look, for those days when you just don’t want to put any effort into pairing the watch to an outfit. In a way, to me, this strap is the “white dress shirt” of straps.

Matte Purple Alligator Signature Strap

For the last look, I wanted to go for a fall business casual look. Something I could wear to client meetings and to after-work drinks. I wanted to stick to my original goal, challenge myself and do something unexpected for the finale of this strap guide. So, I present to you, one of my favorite straps from Ken and how to pair it with the Polerouter. It's the matte purple alligator signature strap. This leather strap is truly a special strap to have in person. The purple is not too shouty at all, in fact it can really blend in well especially when color coordinated with the outfit. It doesn’t beg for attention at all. However, when it catches the eye, it certainly holds your gaze. In many ways, the strap makes wearing this watch feel so much more special. Not only does it add to the wrist presence of the Polerouter, but it also makes you feel special when it’s on the wrist. This concludes my Polerouter Strap Guide, I hope you enjoyed this series, thanks so much for all your support!!
