Does your strap fit my watch?

Does your strap fit my watch?

We receive this question almost daily:

Does your straps fit my watch? I have a _____.

So hopefully by the time you are done reading this page, you will have an answer to that question. There are a few ways we are going to tackle this question:

  1. What type of watch strap does your watch need?
  2. What is the lug width of your watch?
  3. Does your watch need a curved lug?

1. What type of watch strap connection does your watch need?

Regular: All of our ready stock straps will work.

Curved: We do not have ready stock straps that will fit, but you can get a strap custom made with curved lugs. Brands in this space: FP Journe, Moser, Ming.

Apple Watch: We sell Apple Watch straps as ready stock. Also available for custom order.

Male: We do not have ready stock straps that will fit, but you can get a strap custom made (bespoke). Additional info to provide is the dimensions of the rectangle cut-outs on the left and right of the male piece.

Bracelet: If you are able to remove your bracelet, and the watch head looks like the one in "Regular", you can then purchase any of our ready stock straps and it will fit.

Female: We are not able to make custom straps for this style, as most of it will require a special insert.

Insert: We are not able to make custom straps for watches that require a special insert, unless you are able to send us an old strap with the insert for us to re-use. This would mean that we will cut up your old strap and you will no longer be able to use it. Brands/models in this space: Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Cartier Santos.

Fitted: We are not able to make custom straps for fitted ends at this moment, as it typically requires a special insert that is specific to each watch. If you have an old strap with the insert for us to re-use, we might be able to make it. This would mean that we will cut up your old strap and you will no longer be able to use it.

Sports/Digital: We are not able to make custom straps for this category of watches.

2. What is the lug width of your watch?

Assuming your watch has a "regular" attachment style, you will need to purchase the correct lug width to fit your watch. Lug width refers to "A" in this schematic above. There are two ways to find out the lug width of your watch.

Firstly, you can Google "<watch brand and model> lug width" and see if there is an answer from the brand's website, or some other websites. Secondly, you can simply take a ruler and measure the lug width directly on your watch.

Lug widths are typically in whole numbers, and while the most common lug widths are between 18-22mm, they can go down to 8mm or up to 32mm even. Our ready stock straps are available in 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 21mm, 22mm, 24mm (Panerai) and 26mm (Panerai). If you need other lug widths, you can have it custom made.

Note: Our Widths typically have two numbers, for example 20-16. The first number (20) refers to the lug width ("A" in the schematic above). The second number (16) refers to the buckle width ("B" in the schematic above). You just need to ensure that the first number matches the lug width of your watch.

3. Does your watch need a curved lug?

Rolex eats leather straps for breakfast. Be warned!

Check out our main article on curved straps here!

Pro Tip: If you want to use a strap with straight lugs on your Rolex watches, you can tape up the case with the sharp edges to prevent it from scratching the leather strap.
