Strap Guide written by @mch.wis. Thank you, Michael!
Introduction
This watch needs no introduction: it’s the Rolex ‘No Date’ Submariner Ref. 14060M. It’s about as classic and iconic as it gets when it comes to wrist watches. It’s often touted as a watch that can handle just about everything: from lounging by the pool to looking snappy at a gala event, even with just its original bracelet on. With this strap guide, I hope to highlight the versatility of this iconic watch, even when not paired with its steel bracelet.
Red Chevre Slim
A sporty watch deserves a sporty strap, and this Red Chevre Slim strap works perfectly to draw out the rakish, casual flair of the Submariner. Given the amount of black and silver in play with the watch, having the strap deliver a splash of colour helps prevent the watch from looking too ‘cold’. Red and black is just one of those colour combinations that never seems to go wrong!
Dark Grey Alcantara Signature
If you want something with a luxurious feel but perhaps a little more subdued in the looks department, this Dark Grey Alcantara Signature strap is definitely a top contender. It thrives in a ‘dry land’ setting, though you can safely wear it to the beach or poolside (just don’t swim with it on). Doesn’t look out of place when paired with a polo or linen shirt either.
Black Rubberised Leather (Togo) Signature
Need to dress up for a summer’s night dinner? An Alligator strap might usually be the go-to strap for such occasions, but I find pairing it with the Submariner a tad dressy for my tastes. Enter: The Rubberised Leather (Togo) Signature strap in black. I find it elevates the watch just enough so that it doesn’t look out of place in more formal settings. At the same time, it manages to fly under the radar well enough to look polished without coming across as being too intentional.
Yellow Sailcloth Signature
Last but certainly not least, what better way to maintain the Submariner’s original intended purpose while injecting some fun than with a Yellow Sailcloth Signature strap? The watch’s dive credentials guarantee its water-friendliness, and pairing it with a similarly durable strap creates a bona fide combo that both looks and feels good. The summery vibe is just the cherry on top.
