Introduction

Hello again.

@nobodycaresaboutyourwatch back with another Strap Guide — this time with the Vacheron Constantin Historiques 91001J. I originally set out looking for a vintage Cartier Tank Louis, but stumbled upon this model on Chrono24 instead. No shade to the Tank Louis (actually, a little bit), but this is a much more interesting watch.

For this Strap Guide, I decided to have a bit of fun with the creative and make them personal to me. I also left the scratches in, since they give the watch a lot more character (and definitely not because I was too lazy to retouch the photos).

Sand Chevre Slim

This strap reminds me of my dog, Bowie (named after David Bowie), so naturally I had to feature him. He’s a 6-year-old Cavapoo and is always by my side when I’m taking photos of my watches as my trusty assistant. This time, he got to model in front of the camera and was the goodest of boys. Great strap. Best dog.

Green Alcantara Signature

Speaking of basketball, the Boston Celtics are my favourite sports team, and if you’re going to give me a green strap, this pairing is a no-brainer. The Alcantara texture makes it incredibly photogenic as well. I attended Game 2 of the NBA finals, and on my flight back, my favourite Celtic of all time, Paul Pierce, happened to be sitting right in front of me. I had been wearing his jersey the previous night at the game, so as we deboarded, I pulled it out of my luggage, ran up to him, and asked him for a selfie:

Matte Astral Blue Alligator Flank Stitchless

Love me some alligator flank, and the baby blue colour always puts me at ease, so it’s the perfect strap pairing while you’re doing your business in the bathroom. There’s no better time to admire the craftsmanship on your wrist than when you’re on the toilet. You can see every little detail in the guilloche and leatherwork. And if you haven’t taken a wristie while going number 2, you haven’t lived a full life.

Matte Mahogany Alligator Signature

Stanley Kubrick is one of my main influences when it comes to my creative work, and this burgundy (or mahogany) strap really gives off a vintage feel that reminds me of the colour palette he uses in his films. He was a photographer first, as evidenced by his flawless composition in all his frames, and his versatility in filmmaking is something I aspire to. This is also my favourite strap from this set, so good job, Delugs!
