Strap Guide written by @alex_ede_rose and @oxfordsanddeadlifts. Thank you, Alex and Andrew!
Ever since my husband gifted me this watch for Christmas, I’ve been thinking: “What could be more romantic than writing a Delugs Strap Guide together?”
The SRP839J1 is part of Seiko’s Presage Cocktail Time collection. At just a hair under 34mm, the ladies’ size fits comfortably on my 5.5-inch wrist. The light pink starburst-patterned dial seated in a stainless steel case creates a clean and feminine appearance; the solitary date window maintains this elegant visage while adding some practical utility. When I’m not actively wearing the watch, I enjoy admiring the automatic movement through the transparent caseback.
Experimenting with different strap combinations keeps things interesting — the stock quick-release spring bars are fantastic! And while shopping for 17mm straps might be otherwise difficult, Delugs makes it a breeze. Below are five straps that illustrate the variety of styles that can be worn with this watch.
Matte Black Alligator Signature
Who doesn’t love a classic black alligator? This conservative option is ideal for business and formal events. I’ve primarily worn this strap to work and at weddings. The high contrast between the pink and black is confident, without drawing too much attention to the wrist. I probably wouldn’t purchase this as my only strap because its use is somewhat niche. However, there are a few pairings more appropriate for an elevated environment.

Millie, our curious and extremely velcro Australian Shepherd rescue, decided that she needed to be included in the photoshoot, so we happily used her as a background.
Sand Nubuck Slim
The perfect strap for a casual brunch! The neutral colour mixes and matches easily without stealing the show. Similar to suede, nubuck has a velvety nap that wears light on the wrist, adding to the effortlessly chic aesthetic. This strap is an understated daily driver, and if you had to choose just one strap to own (fortunately, you don’t!), this would be a fantastic option.
White Sailcloth Signature
This has quickly become my favourite strap. Similar to the sand colour, white goes with nearly everything. The sailcloth texture adds visual interest and balances out the potentially sterile colourway. Delugs’s signature straps are padded, which adds a heavier and more luxurious feel. This would be another great option if you are looking for a versatile single strap that’s a bit more ostentatious – expect compliments!
Pastel Blue Nubuck Slim
I love pastels, and this is no exception. In concert with the pink dial, the light blue creates a soft look to match the nubuck texture. I would place this strap in the same category as its sand-colored counterpart – perfect for casual settings. The blue provides a much more distinctive look, but is consequently harder to incorporate into an outfit, making this a good second or third strap for the collection.
Light Grey Epsom Slim
Another neutral-coloured strap! Perhaps you’re detecting a theme — I love to pick a strap in the morning that isn’t too restrictive on the rest of my clothing choices. This strap, in particular, works well either with or without lots of other colours. The patterned Epsom leather is durable and easy to clean, albeit more casual for sure. Another excellent one for the lineup!
