Strap Guide: Seiko SRP777 and SKX007

Strap Guide written by @outriderwatchesThank you, Heikki!

Introduction

There's a long list of reasons why dive watches are so popular among watch fans. The romantic side of things is the story behind dive watches and their role in the early years of scuba diving. For many enthusiasts, it matters that your timepiece, or at least the category that timepiece belongs to, has that kind of heritage. Looking at it from a practical point of view, you can get a solid, dependable diver for very little money. Versatility is also a major factor: apart from dressier occasions, you can wear a dive watch in just about any setting, from demanding outdoor (or underwater) activities to a nice day at the office. Just pair your watch with a bracelet or strap that suits the occasion and your style.

Nato straps are an obvious choice for divers, but if you're looking for something within that realm, just a bit sportier, a Delugs Elastic Loop is a great option. It's a simple idea and makes putting the watch on and taking it off a breeze. Quick-release spring bars are a nice bonus, and the absence of a buckle or the tail of a conventional nato strap makes them streamlined, light, and comfortable to wear. Just be sure to follow the size guide when purchasing to ensure a good fit.

Elastic Loop Khaki and Green

The Seiko Turtle and the SKX007 are classics in the world of affordable dive watches and also quite the strap monsters. The black dial with white markers makes for a nice neutral canvas that goes together with a variety of strap colors. Still, since these are rugged tool watches, they will always pair great with simple earthy tones such as olive green, sand brown, and of course black.

Elastic Loop Khaki/White, Bond Black/Grey and Black/Khaki

You can go with a striped version for a bit of variety. Use the accent to match a color on the dial or the bezel (or even an item of clothing) or to add some contrasting tones. It's a subtle detail, yet it makes a big difference.

If you're going for some vintage diving vibes, "Bond" always works. The subdued combination of black and blueish-grey pairs well with a black dial.

Elastic Loop Green

Green is a great choice and gives the watch that cool military-inspired look. This combination is a personal favorite of mine.

All in all, the Delugs Elastic Loops are a fun addition to any watch enthusiast's strap collection.
