Introducing WristPop: The Royal Pop, On Your Wrist

On 16 May 2026, Swatch and Audemars Piguet released the Royal Pop — a colourful reimagining of the Royal Oak as a convertible pocket watch. It sold out at boutiques in a single day. There was just one problem: It wasn't a wristwatch.

By design, the Royal Pop had no lugs and no strap. And for most collectors who queued up for one, that wasn't enough. A Royal Oak, in any form, belongs on the wrist. That's the whole point of it.

The question showed up everywhere within hours of release — every forum, every group chat, every comment section under every unboxing video: How do I wear this?

We wanted to answer that question properly. So, we built WristPop.

Introducing WristPop.

WristPop is a case-strap system that puts the Royal Pop on your wrist — no drilling, no glue, no permanent modification. The bioceramic watch head clicks into a purpose-built case frame exactly the way it clicks into the holder it shipped with, and comes back out the same way. From there, it wears like any other watch.

We built it as a full system, not just an adapter: A case frame, a texture-matched deployant clasp, and a cut-to-size FKM rubber strap, all engineered to work together and shipped assembled as one set.

The Problem With "Just Add Lugs"

The obvious approach — bolt a generic adapter onto the case — was never going to be good enough. The Royal Pop wasn't designed with lugs, a caseback cutout, or spring bar geometry in mind, so anything added on afterwards needed to hold the watch securely without touching the case in a way that could mark or stress it.

There was a second complication: the Royal Pop isn't one watch, it's two. Six references are Lépine, with the crown at 12 o'clock. Two are Savonette, with the crown at 3 o'clock. A case built for one orientation doesn't sit right on the other — so this couldn't be a single universal shell. It meant designing two distinct case architectures from the start, one per crown layout, each carried across their respective colourways.

What's in the Box

Every WristPop order ships as a matched set:

• 1x TR90 case frame, with 2 steel rods for installation
• 2x CTS straps in FKM rubber, attached to the frame, uncut
• 1x CTS deployant clasp, with a matching TR90 clasp cover
• 1x WristPop Strap Change Tool
• 2x spare clasp covers
• 1x packaging box with outer sleeve

The case frame itself is moulded in TR90 nylon reinforced with fibreglass — a material we picked specifically because it needed to flex just enough to click the watch in and out cleanly, while staying rigid enough that once seated, there would be no wiggling. It's slim enough that you can still see the Royal Pop's octagonal silhouette from the top and bottom, and compact enough to fit down to a 13.5cm wrist.

The clasp cover was its own small problem to solve. Metal never sat right next to the bioceramic Royal Pop — it read as a mismatch the moment you looked at it. So the covers are moulded in the same bioceramic-matched colour and finish as the case, right down to the tapisserie texture. 

Sized to You

The CTS strap is FKM rubber, and is trimmable by design. Rather than force a fit from a fixed range of sizes, you measure your own wrist and trim the strap to length yourself — no holes, no half-sizes, no leftover tail flapping past the buckle. It's a step we ask you to do once, and we've put together a full video walkthrough so nobody's guessing with a pair of scissors on a strap that costs over a hundred dollars.

Because the Royal Pop is, at its core, a playful watch, we didn't want WristPop to lock you into one look. Every case works with every strap colour, and swapping between them takes under a minute with the included Strap Change Tool: Push the steel bar out, pull the strap free, move the clasp to the new strap, line it up, push the bar back in. Done.

Across 17 case options and 14 strap colours, that's 238 combinations — which means the Royal Pop you wear on Monday doesn't have to be the Royal Pop you wear on Friday.
