Delugs and Vacheron Constantin: A Simple Partnership That Speaks Volum

In our latest collaboration with Vacheron Constantin, we asked ourselves two questions:

Could a strap do more than just hold a watch to your wrist?

Could it honour centuries of horological excellence, pay tribute to national heritage and elevate the wearing experience through thoughtful design and uncompromising craftsmanship?

For us, the answer was simple: Yes. When two brands grounded in craft, detail and tradition come together, there’s no need to overthink it. It just makes sense.

A Natural Collaboration

2025 marks Vacheron Constantin’s 270th anniversary — an extraordinary milestone for the world’s oldest watchmaker in continuous operation. To mark the occasion, the maison invited us to develop a strap worthy of their legacy.

The brief was clear: design a strap that reflects Vacheron Constantin’s refined elegance, while also paying tribute to Singapore as it celebrates 60 years of independence. The result is a pair of special-edition leather straps, available exclusively at Vacheron Constantin’s boutiques in Singapore. Production is limited to just 60 pieces per variant, totalling 120.

The decision to make only 120 examples was deliberate. In a world where mass production is the norm, rarity becomes a form of respect. Each strap is a quiet celebration of legacy, handmade for those who appreciate the details others overlook.

A Tribute to Time, Place and Craft

This collaboration is more than just a strap — it’s a tribute.

To Vacheron Constantin, for 270 years of dedication to fine watchmaking. When Jean-Marc Vacheron first opened his workshop in 1755, he could not have imagined the countless innovations, complications and iconic designs his successors would create. Yet today, as the world’s oldest continuously operating watchmaker, Vacheron Constantin remains a powerful symbol of horological excellence. By designing a strap that complements their 270-year heritage, we honour a lineage of master artisans who have continually pushed the boundaries of what a watch can be.

To Singapore, a nation whose identity and creativity continue to evolve after 60 years of independence. In just six decades, Singapore has grown from a trading port into a global crossroads of culture and innovation. This strap nods to that narrative, combining materials from European tanneries with craftsmanship rooted in Southeast Asia. In doing so, we celebrate a young country that, like Vacheron Constantin, respects tradition while embracing progress. The red and white stitching at the buckle, for example, is more than decoration: it is a quiet acknowledgement of Singapore’s unique spirit, and a reminder that creativity knows no borders.

And to craftsmanship, in all its forms, from watchmaking to hand-stitched leatherwork. Watchmakers in Geneva perfected the art of high-end, precise movements; leather artisans spend hours cutting, finishing and assembling each strap by hand. When these two traditions meet, they create something greater than the sum of their parts. Each stitch, each bevelled edge, each carefully chosen colour echoes the meticulous attention both workshops apply to their respective crafts. In this way, the strap becomes a bridge: linking centuries of Swiss horology with modern, world-class leatherworking techniques.

Crafted with Meaning

The strap comes in two variants:

The colour pairing is intentional — the almost-neutral tone of the Gold Baranil mellows out the intensity of the Hunter Green Epsom. When combined, the effect is a balanced and harmonious one. Contrast elements continue throughout the strap’s lining, keeper and edge paint. Furthermore, each strap tip features a sharp V-cut in the accent leather, a subtle reference to the edges of the Maltese Cross.

At the buckle end, you’ll find red and white accent stitching (exclusive to this collection) as a quiet nod to Singapore’s national colours. Each strap is also individually numbered (“xx/60”) and stamped on the underside of the tip.

Premium Leathers, Exceptional Feel

We worked with two of France’s most respected tanneries to source the leather for this collaboration:

Novonappa (Tanneries Haas) is a smooth, supple calfskin with a soft gloss and a rich handfeel. Over time, it develops a gentle patina, complementing the character of the watches it’s paired with.
Epsom (Tanneries Du Puy) is a firmer leather with an embossed grain. It’s highly scratch-resistant, holds its shape well and adds visual texture to the strap’s profile.

Together, these materials bring balance and versatility, combining softness and structure, sheen and texture, tradition and modernity.

Built for Everyday Refinement

Each strap is handcrafted by our leather artisans in Vietnam, taking between four to six hours to complete. While precision tools are used for critical steps, the majority of the process is done by hand, including cutting, stitching and edge finishing. In particular, implementing the signature V-cut feature entailed a very manual and time-consuming procedure, shaping the cuts so that they overlap at both ends to create a seamless appearance that also holds up to repeated flexing and twisting.

Given the nature of this collaboration, we needed to ensure that the straps reflect the care and craftsmanship that the maison embodies. Every strap has also been tested against Vacheron Constantin’s quality benchmarks, notably for torsion and abrasion resistance. To do this, we followed the same testing conditions used by the maison for quality assurance, employing specially-designed machinery to bend, twist and rub the straps repeatedly to simulate rigorous wear.

We’ve also included our signature quick-release spring bars at both the lug (curved) and buckle ends (straight). The quick-release system was developed in-house to meet our durability standards and allows for easy strap changes, making it simple to switch between Vacheron Constantin’s Maltese Cross pin or deployant buckles.

Designed for the Patrimony and Beyond

These straps were styled with the Patrimony collection in mind, but their elegance extends across the Vacheron Constantin catalogue. The tone and finish of the leather pair beautifully with white, yellow and rose gold cases. They dress up well, but also wear comfortably in casual settings.

More importantly, they reflect our belief that a simple strap change can completely transform a watch, giving it new life, shifting its personality and making it feel uniquely yours.

It’s Simple

This collaboration made sense because of what both brands stand for: attention to detail, pursuit of quality and a belief that form and function should never be at odds.
