Introducing the Ballon Bleu Strap Collection

If you own a Cartier Ballon Bleu, you'll know that replacing its strap isn't as simple as swapping one strap for another.

The strap attaches through a notch beneath the case, while each case size requires its own strap width and spring bars. In other words, a standard off-the-shelf strap simply won't fit.

Until now, our answer has been a custom strap.

We've been making custom straps for the Ballon Bleu since February, and over time, the same requests kept coming back. Collectors wanted a precise fit, a shorter length than the original strap and, in some cases, a colour that Cartier doesn't offer.

So we took what those custom orders taught us and built a ready-made range around it: the Ballon Bleu Collection.

Built Around the Ballon Bleu

The idea behind this collection is straightforward. Rather than asking Ballon Bleu owners to go through the custom process for a strap that has already been designed around the watch, we've taken the specifications from our custom work and turned them into a ready-stock offering.

Every case size from 28mm to 42mm is covered, with three lengths — S, M and L — to give collectors more flexibility in finding the right fit.

Each strap is also finished with our Heritage Buckle, completing a design that is made to sit naturally with the Ballon Bleu.

The result is the same considered fit as our custom straps, but without the wait.

A Quieter Approach to Colour

The Ballon Bleu has a distinct visual character. Its rounded case, polished surfaces and flowing lines already give it plenty of presence, so we wanted the straps to complement those qualities rather than compete with them.

Our selection of leathers reflects that approach.

The collection includes five colours in Alligator — Matte Himalayan, Matte Black, Matte Navy and Matte Mahogany, alongside Glossy Emerald. The matte finish allows the polished case to remain the focus, while Navy offers a particularly natural pairing with the blue of the Ballon Bleu's cabochon crown.

For something a little warmer or more understated, we've also introduced Gold Chevre and Taupe Epsom. These options bring a different texture and character to the watch while maintaining the same restrained approach.

Across the collection, the colours are intended to work with both steel and gold Ballon Bleu configurations, giving collectors more room to personalise the watch without losing its original character.

A Range Born From Custom Work

What makes this collection different from simply adding another watch-specific strap to our range is where it came from.

We've spent the past several months making custom Ballon Bleu straps and paying attention to what collectors were actually asking for. The result is a ready-made collection shaped by those real-world requirements.
