Strap Guide: Studio Underd0g Desert Sky

Introduction

I am back with another strap guide, this time with a truly special one which was a gift to mark a special occasion. Not to mention, finally a British watch back in the collection! It is none other than the Studio Underd0g Series 01 Desert Sky! Here are my top picks:

White Tropic CTS Rubber

How can this strap guide not include one of the latest and hottest release from Delugs? This is by no means a new pattern for Delugs per se, we have seen it on the PRX line but it has been an eagerly awaited release onto the regular lineup! This is the perfect option for a bit of colour pop, really makes the blue dial all that much more vibrant and gives it a more casual and layered look with the added texture on the rubber.

Navy Chevre Slim

This Navy Chèvre Slim strap gives it a more serious look. A tad more subdued and a softer texture to the strap. This is definitely a combo that errs on the more serious side - who would’ve thought one could be serious with something as fun as a Studio Underd0g! This gives the perfect amount of contrast between the dial and the strap, subdued enough for an earth-tone jumper as the breezier months quickly close in on us around the corner.

Brown Buttero Slim

This one is the perfect pick for the autumn months as the leaves slowly turn to a rich red and brown. This one gives a warmer feel to your entire look. The cream stitching provides a pop and contrast, perfectly rounding out the overall look and pairing it with the watch. This pairing is something that would be expected, something just that little bit more safe and toned down. Wonderful to slide under the cuff of a thicker overcoat, perhaps in grey or beige.

Mission to Earth "Cyan"

This one is a fun one, look closely it’s not just a “plain blue”. It has green edge paint as well as stitching. Definitely sings a similar tune to that of the blue chèvre slim but is a little bit more playful with the green contrast. I found it quite a fun pairing especially on a day out and about in nature, perfectly complementing the green grass in the background. The crazy horse leather gives it a slightly coarser feel and definitely gives it more of a casual feel to the overall look. I know it’s no moonswatch but hey if it works, it works!

Cream Saffiano Stitchless

Shifting gears to a bit more seamless look, we got the Cream Saffiano Stitchless Strap. This perfectly complements the subdials and adds a touch of elegance and elevates your look from pure playful to also classy and a bit more refined. The way the strap’s colour matches with the tachymeter track throws the focus on to the central portion of the dial, contrasting with the light blue textured dial. Perhaps it is more of a summer look and pairs well with a lighter outfit.

Matte Oatmeal Alligator (Custom Strap)

The origin of this custom strap idea came from Delugs’ collaboration with Armin Strom’s latest Dual-Time Resonance GMT. I thought why not create something similar for the Studio Underd0g, playing around with edge paint and leather lining as well as keepers? I think it turned out to be quite a fun yet elevated look. Definitely not so much a daily driver look but adds a touch of elegance with the alligator leather. Question is - padding or no? I think it was a good shout to go slim style…

Baby Blue Sailcloth Signature

This is possibly my favourite pairing. Definitely not leaving least to last! This is like I mentioned before in a post, a match made in heaven. Yes, it is loud but it just works! The texture of the sail cloth which is in actuality FKM rubber and also the rubber lining provides function and versatility and it’s simply the most comfortable sailcloth you could get out there! This pairing has received its fair few oohs and ahs. This is no doubt a pairing you cannot go wrong! Now how would matching sailcloths look with other Series01s and Series03s I wonder… mint for the mint choc chip, black for the g00fy panda, red for the watermel0n, a yellow for the passion fruit and a grey for the salmon…
