Introduction
The PAM00089 is a 44mm, anthracite dial, titanium GMT with 300m water resistance, limited to 3000 pieces in the world through a small production window between 2001 and 2004. Some might recognise this as the Bill Clinton PAM, as he wore one back in the day when Panerai had a strong following.
This particular watch was bought by my father in the early 2000s as daily wear and has eventually made its way down to me recently. Over the last couple of decades, the hands seem to have oxidised, giving it a very worn look. I intend to add more wear and scratches to it.
I’ve never particularly been a fan of the original rubber strap it came with, so it’s great to see Delugs provide some variety. I’ve picked the below assortment -
Green Crazy Horse Chunky
The almost emerald green with white stitching was something that stood out to me, giving me dark wizard of oz vibes. This would be part of my casual wear.
Navy Minerva Box Chunky
Note: This product has been discontinued.Navy leather straps pair with anything. A no-brainer picks if you can’t decide on what colour to go for. The Minerva adds a bit of texture and visual interest to keep it from being too plain.
Brown Buttero Chunky
This pairing is simplicity at its best. Pure casual, I’d pair it with jeans and boots, for that workhorse vibe.
Orange Buttero Chunky
I wanted something loud. Something fun. Something orange. This is my summer piece, paired with chino shorts and a linen shirt. It’s what I’d wear on a yacht (if I had one).
Jean Grey Babele Chunky
I’ve always been a fan of the texture of Babele and jumped at the opportunity of trying it on a PAM. I love the under-the-radar, muted look to it, complementing the dial in a simple way, yet adding character through texture.
