Introduction

Today’s strap guide features a watch that, for all intents and purposes, is a true connoisseur’s timepiece. When Glashütte Original (re)launched the SeaQ line, it based the modern iteration on the iconic Spezimatic Type RP TS 200 dive watch of 1969. The skin diver design language, coupled with high-end German watchmaking precision gave rise to what is among the very best dive watches on the market today.

Make no mistake, the OEM bracelet is arguably one of the very best around (the production is outsourced to Brogioli, who also produce bracelets for the likes of A. Lange & Sohne, Greubel Forsey, and IWC. That said, I will forever be a fan of sprucing things up with a strap change every now and then! This particular variant of the SeaQ comes in a colour dubbed “reed green” and lends itself particularly well to strap changes because it ranges from green to charcoal grey to black depending on the lighting conditions.

Olive Green Rubber CTS

Is there a more apt pairing than a dive watch and a matching tone-on-tone rubber strap? Enter the Delugs Olive Green Rubber CTS strap. This olive green complements this SeaQ's dial beautifully, while the unassuming smooth surface is a no-nonsense finish. The strap's high-quality FKM fluoroelastomer construction ensures comfort and durability, making it ideal for active lifestyles. One word regarding the clasp: the addition of the leaf-spring deployant clasp elevates the strap, providing a seamless and refined look on the wrist. I love the SeaQ on this CTS strap!

White Rubberised Leather (Togo) Signature Strap

Do you love being in the water during the summer but still feel you have to be ready to jump into a business meeting at a moment’s notice? This is the strap for you. It offers a surprisingly perfect solution. At first glance, the crisp white might seem like a bold choice (and it is), but it actually creates a fantastic contrast that allows the SeaQ's dial to truly pop while matching the text on the watch. Beyond the aesthetics, it provides both comfort and durability, making it suitable for everyday wear while still being robust enough for more active pursuits.

Elastic Loop Yellow

This colour combination is not for the faint of heart. Prior to trying it on myself, I had read a lot about Delugs’ innovative Elastic Loop design (think more comfortable version of a marine nationale strap). Not only that, but I opted for bright yellow? What was wrong with me? I did not recognise myself. The skeptic in me was cautiously curious about what this was going to be like mounted on my SeaQ. Well, I have just returned from a week-long beach vacation in Mexico and am delighted to report that I wore this while hiking, swimming in the sea, swimming in pools, playing volleyball, shooing away coatis, and sleeping. Not one single complaint. Just make sure to follow the sizing guide to ensure you get a great fit! Bonus: it dries so quickly!

Matte Black Alligator Signature Strap

From one end of the formality spectrum, we jump right to the other end. A dive watch on a crocodile leather strap!!?! Woe is me… but before everyone else gets up in arms about it, a quick reminder that people have worn Submariners on everything from undersized nato straps that expose the spring bars to leather straps and nobody bats an eyelid. If you like it, that’s good enough. And boy do I like it! Crocodile adds an undeniable touch of luxury, while the matte finish keeps things understated and avoids any unnecessary flash.

Sand Alcantara Signature Strap

There is something so incredibly comforting about the warmth (both literal and figurative) of a well made Alcantara strap. The sandy hue harmonises beautifully with the green dial, creating a cohesive and earthy aesthetic that is reminiscent of some of my favourite places. If you like alcantara in cars, you will LOVE alcantara on your watch. Big fan!
