Strap Guide written by @wh1chw4tch. Thank you, Michael!
The Baltic Aquascaphe MK2 in Warm Silver is one of those watches that just gets a lot of things right. The vintage-inspired design, the slim proportions and that beautifully textured warm silver dial make it feel both classic and modern simultaneously. It’s the kind of diver that seems just as comfortable at a backyard barbecue as it does a fancy dinner.
But one of the things I love most about the Aquascaphe is how easily its personality changes with a strap swap. Throw it on something rugged, and it feels like a proper tool watch. Put it on leather, and suddenly it leans vintage and refined. So naturally, I had to try a few different Delugs straps to see how this versatile little diver would transform.
Black Sailcloth Signature
Look, I’m a simple guy. Nothing makes me happier than a classic black strap. But make it sailcloth, give it some rugged texture, and I’m sold immediately.
That’s why the Black Sailcloth Signature Strap was my first choice for the Aquascaphe. The black pairs perfectly with the bezel, while the contrast against the white dial really makes everything pop. Add in the durability of sailcloth, and it just feels right on a vintage-inspired dive watch.
Light Grey Nubuck Slim
Grey straps might be my favourite colourway. Whether I’m wearing a black belt or rugged brown boots, grey just seems to work with everything.
So when I picked up the Light Grey Nubuck Slim Strap, it instantly became best friends with the Baltic. Like peanut butter and chocolate, the slightly textured dial and the soft nap of the nubuck leather complement each other beautifully. The light grey tone gives the watch a relaxed, versatile personality while letting that gorgeous dial shine.
Fauve Baranil Signature
And now for something a little different. For anyone who says divers don’t belong on leather, I’d argue you simply haven’t lived yet. Because while this pairing might seem unexpected, it works incredibly well.
The Fauve Baranil Signature Strap brings a soft, supple feel and warm brown tones that beautifully complement the vintage spirit of the Aquascaphe. Against the dial and bezel, the rich leather adds a touch of old-school charm, making the watch feel less like a pure tool watch and more like a classic everyday companion.
Olive Green Pilot CTS Rubber
Well folks, I had to save the best for last. The Olive Green Pilot CTS Rubber Strap feels like a dream on just about any watch, but it really comes alive on the Aquascaphe. The FKM rubber is soft, supple, and surprisingly easy to size. Heck, it even smells good.
And then there’s the colour combination. The olive green against the black bezel and white dial just works. It gives the watch a sporty, almost military vibe that somehow feels both rugged and fun. It’s a little hard to put to words, but it’ll definitely make you smile.
