Introduction
The A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin Copper-Blue is the distillation of Lange’s essence into its most elemental form. No extra complications. No flourish. Just an ultra-thin, immaculately designed and finished timepiece that captures the soul of Glashütte watchmaking. The Saxonia Thin was the first Lange I truly fell for — the one that pulled me deep into the brand’s world.
I bought my first Saxonia Thin in rose gold as a gift for my wife on our first wedding anniversary, and she truly treasures it. When the opportunity came to pick up a matching copper-blue model for myself, I didn’t hesitate. Though Lange is often associated with formality and high horology gravitas, I’ve found the Saxonia Thin surprisingly versatile, especially when paired with the right straps. Navy is the obvious go-to, but I wanted to explore how far I could push this elegant timepiece into different moods — from dressy to playful, classic to bold. Here are five Delugs straps that prove just how dynamic this watch can be.
Matte Himalayan Alligator Signature
Some combinations just feel right the moment you see them. That was my reaction when I paired the copper-blue dial with the Matte Himalayan Alligator Signature strap. There’s something poetic about this pairing. The strap’s blend of icy whites and subtle greys evokes the snowy ridges of the Himalayas, and when seen against the cosmic shimmer of the copper-blue dial, it’s like staring at mountain peaks under a starry night sky. This strap is my go-to when I want to dress the watch up. It’s refined and elegant, but with a quiet uniqueness that invites a second glance.
Orange Saffiano Signature
The Orange Saffiano Signature strap makes a bold statement, and the Saxonia Thin takes it in stride. It’s a vivid option for days when you want to lean into a more expressive, confident aesthetic without losing sophistication. The structured texture of the Saffiano leather adds character and contrast while maintaining a classy and modern feel. I own a matching Saffiano bag and accessories, so pulling this strap out feels like rounding out a carefully chosen look.
Mission to Uranus “Spring”
While this strap was designed for a Moonswatch, who says fun is off-limits for Lange? The Mission to Uranus “Spring” strap, with its soft pastel tones, white contrast stitching, and rubberised Togo leather, brings an unexpected lightness to the Saxonia Thin. It’s playful, fresh, and casually elegant. The texture and durability of the strap make it perfect for everyday wear, from brunch dates to spring strolls. My wife and I both love this strap, and we often wear our Saxonia Thins together with matching looks.
Pink Sailcloth Signature
Every collection needs a strap that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and for me, that’s the Pink Sailcloth Signature. It’s my go-to when hanging out with my 4-year-old daughter, who adores the colour pink. The strap is vibrant, joyful, and full of energy — a reminder that horology can be heartfelt and human, not just technical. The handcrafted strap offers the ruggedness needed for everyday wear, while the rose red threading adds an elegant finishing touch.
White Rubber CTS
Some people hesitate to dress down a formal watch — I live for it. The White Rubber CTS strap is my favourite for pushing the Saxonia Thin into full-on casual territory. Whether I’m walking the dog, chasing my daughter through an amusement park or grabbing late-night Korean BBQ, this strap holds up beautifully. The crisp white colour pairs perfectly with the white gold case and dial accents, and the clean, minimal aesthetic gives the watch a modern, almost sporty vibe. It’s proof that a ‘dress watch’ can absolutely live outside the boardroom.
