Introduction
Hello everyone, it is Chloe (@czm.jpg) here. This is my first strap guide for Delugs and I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to become an ambassador for the brand and to spread the word on the great work that Delugs is doing!
The Chronoswiss Regulateur CH1223M is truly a special piece to me, it is a celebratory piece for a lovely milestone and for that, I hold close to my heart. Despite the fact that the Chronoswiss Regulateur have screw bars, as opposed to spring bars, I still change the strap on them regularly. Evidently, white dial watches are always going to be strap monsters and this piece is no different, so when I decided to do a strap guide, I was determined to find the best pairings possible for the watch, to properly do this watch justice! Here are my picks:
Matte Turquoise Alligator Signature
Lets start things strong. Undoubtedly one of the most popular colours of the current day and age. This one is truly one for the summer (despite the arguable lack of summer in London). In my opinion, the most suitable leather type for the watch is indeed an alligator strap, which perfectly contrasts the smooth dial with a pop of texture on the croc scales. Wearing this with a simple white t shirt and a denim jacket for that cool (more like chilly) summer breeze just hits the spot. This is one hell of a stunner and really finishes this watch with a touch of whimsy but also a sprinkle of luxury.
Hunter Green Epsom Slim
All in all, Epsom straps are probably my favourite leather type for a more casual yet respectful look. It is soft and supple without felling fragile. That contrast cream stitching adds to that slightly warmer look and complements the dial quite well. This strap sits at the intersection between casual and classy. The hunter green Epsom slim strap would be the perfect option for fabrics that are perhaps a little softer and lighter, like silk and would go well with essentially anything lighter in colour and texture as well.
Orange Saffiano Signature
For my third pick, I went with this rich and tangy shade of orange. Undoubtedly one for a smart casual summer look. This would be perfect to go with a lighter colour cocktail dress or if you are lucky enough to find a shirt that matches the exact shade of orange, then my advice or you is – do it! It is a banger of a combo and no doubt would be a conversation starter. I absolutely love the texture that the saffiano has and really elevates the look of the watch and gives it a more formal nod whilst balancing it out with the more relaxed and casual tone of orange.
Navy Shell Cordovan Slim
Moving on from the punchy side of the selection to a more low-key and toned down section of it. My favourite colour has long been blue, essentially all different shades (have to say purple is tugging on my heartstrings), and this hits all the right notes. The shell cordovan gives it this smooth sheen ad exceptional durability that can endure a lot of wear. The blue is absolutely stunning under natural light and looks dark and mysterious indoors, definitely one for flying under the radar and keeping things low key. The richness of that indigo-esque blue really brings out the heated blue hands on the watch and perfectly complements it, subtle yet powerful! No doubt, this would be a good pairing to slide under the cuff and as you get ready for the chill of the autumn days.
Wine Red Nubuck Slim
Despite being a pretty bright colour, the wine red nubuck slim strap is actually quite warm in nature, all thanks to that velvet-like surface texture of the nubuck strap. This strap is likely something you would wear to dress down with a thin coat and perhaps jeans. A very subtle touch would be the purple stitching that acts as a good supplement to the wine red of the strap, just sufficient contrast to ensure there is that little pop of colour but not so much that it overpowers that of the strap colour. Just imagine, the autumn leaves are falling and you stand in a sea of red, orange and golden yellow, and there you are with this strap, quite literally the cherry on top!
Matte Purple Alligator Signature
How can I do a 2024 strap guide and not have a purple in here one way or another? This is for sure a favourite, the rich purple is simply something I was not able to find anywhere else. This is the perfect strap as we slowly creep into the colder months to come. This darker tone is not only subtle but also incredibly understated. It is definitely something you could pull off with a white shirt and a skirt perhaps for the office. The purple is truly remarkable and unique, something I have not managed to see anywhere else in the market. It seems to bring out the best aesthetic components and elements of the watch. It draws your eyes to pay attention to those gorgeous harsh lugs as well as that gorgeous sandwich coined edge case, coupled with the beautiful onion crown.
Matte Boreal Green Alligator (Made-to-Order)
If you stuck around till pick #7, congrats! For those that know me, you would know I am a big proponent of slim style straps. To me, it gives the strap a nice balanced and symmetrical look. I really love the combinations with the alligator straps on this Regulateur so I was determined to get a strap which was subdued enough for it to be worn for work and the matte boreal green precisely defines interesting enough but not overly loud. The added comfort of the slim style on this is amazing strap. The croc scales gives the watch a premium and elevated look and the absence of padding lets the watch sit more snug on the wrist. Similar to the navy shell cordovan, really pops under natural light, however, when worn indoors, it really flies under the radar and could even easily be mistaken as a black strap! That makes the strap an “outfit monster”, perfect for a smarter look, with a white button up collared shirt, paired with a suit or a blazer.
Well there it is – my picks for the Chronoswiss Regulateur, as you can see, close to half of the straps on the list are croc straps which I would say is definitely my favourite leather type for the watch. With that said, let’s be honest, a white dial Chronoswiss, it’s one hell of a strap monster! I hope you enjoyed reading this and that it has helped
