I am really sad that I'm writing this review, but it is a sincere one.
I was very excited when I finally decided to buy this tool. I wanted to remove and put back bracelet on my Black Bay 54 and wanted to be extra safe about it.
I unpacked and started practising. I tried many times and was very comfortably and consistently removing and putting back bracelet on one of my cheaper watches.
Then I finally decided to try on my BB. It was on Tudor strap at the moment and took few tries to remove. One spring bar even jumped from the tool. In retrospective, I should've stopped at this point. Heck even closely watching one of official videos, spring bar jumps from the tool right after they removed bracelet from Tudor watch.
Although not advertised as "bracelet installation tool", one would expect the reverse process should be fairly straightforward. It wasn't.
I immediately noticed that the tool can't get a good grip on Tudor's beefier spring bars. They kept shooting off from the tool no matter what I tried. And believe me, I tried many times before I even attempted to put the bracelet on the watch. In retrospective, this was second point at which I should've stopped trying.
At one point, I was really close to putting one side of the bracelet on when the spring bar shot from the tool and scratched my watch a little even through a tape. Being more careful, I tried way too many times. Different holding positions, different forces, even so much force I damaged one of my spring bars. No matter what I did, I couldn't get a good grip on it.
I gave up after an hour. Watch without a bracelet, one new scratch, one damaged spring bar and very frustrated that I couldn't make it work on the only watch I wanted to use it on. I have no problems using simple cheap tool to swap straps and bracelets on my other watches, but as mentioned, I wanted to be extra safe on my BB.
Facts:
* it can clearly be used to remove bracelets, and is fairly easy to use after some practise on some watches
* it can put back bracelets on some watches too
* there's surprising amount of play in the tool, but nothing preventing its intended use
* adjusting wheel is very loose and rotates freely
* it's very easy to accidentally rotate the adjusting wheel while holding the tool too
* ruler seems to be off, but that doesn't matter too much as there's play in the tool and adjusting wheel can't be locked in position anyways
* there's not much real estate to hold the tool to get a comfortable grip in hand
Although there's a lot of reviews praising this tool, it didn't work for me. To me it seems like tips on the tool are very small and shallow and can't get a good grip on beefier spring bars. Or this is a very long review of my clumsy hands. I don't know. But it definitely wasn't as straightforward as promotional videos show even though I did my practise and preparation.
