Whiskey Chromexcel Signature Strap v1 (Discontinued)

  • When you make a signature style in a top-in-class leather, you're bound to get a winner. This Signature strap in Horween Chromexcel is what you have been waiting for. This leather is the stuff of legends. When people say leather, Chromexcel is the image that pops up in your head and Horween is the tannery that you think of. Why is that the case? Beautiful grain, smooth texture, rich colours, patina potential and that pull-up effect.

The Chromexcel strap starts off in a beautiful medium brown colour. This leather has a pronounced pull-up effect. What this means is that as the leather stretches, the colour changes. This is due to the movement of the oil and wax inside the leather. What results is a leather strap that wears and ages beautifully, with a rustic and vintage vibe. Also, due to the high percentage of wax, any scratches can also be easily buffed out with just a simple brushing or friction from rubbing. The pull-up effect fades away over time and evens back out. All this contributes to a leather strap that you don't ever want to take off from your watch.

All watch straps will come with a silver tang buckle and quick release bars, so that you can easily swap out between your favourite watch straps and not have to fuss about scratching your watch lugs. No one will judge you for changing straps every day!

Note: This model is being discontinued. Made-to-Order is no longer accepted.

  • Straps in the Signature collection have the whole shebang. There are a total of 4 layers of various material that goes into each strap, with each layer serving a specific purpose. From top to bottom, they are: (1) exterior leather, (2) padding, (3) synthetic strengthener, (4) lining leather.

All layers are firstly glued and pressed together, before they are stitched. Finally, the edges are finished with edge paint, which adds an additional layer along the exposed edges of leather and protects it from wear and tear, and water damage, over time. This also prevents the different layers from separating - an additional layer of prevention on top of the stitching.

  • Lug Width: Find out the lug width of your watch mode. You can do this by searching the following "(watch model) lug width" in Google. Once you know the lug width (for e.g. 20mm), select the 20/18 variant for the lug width. 20 refers to the lug width, while 18 refers to the buckle width. Our straps come with a taper because it looks classier than straight straps.

Size: Not sure what size (length) to get for the straps? There are two methods to determine this.

Method 1: If you have an existing strap on your watch, measure the long and short straps, sum up the lengths, and choose the variant (Small or Medium) that is the closest to the total length of your existing straps. For example, if your existing straps measure 105mm on the long strap and 80mm on the short strap, the total length is 185mm. The closest variant would be Medium (115mm/70mm = 185mm). Note that this is still an approximation, and you should adjust accordingly if your current strap does not fit your wrist perfectly.

Method 2: If your existing watch does not have a normal strap (you have a bracelet on), you would need to measure your wrist size and purchase the strap size according to the guidelines below. If you are between sizes (for e.g. wrist size of 17.5cm), we recommend to size up.
    Small: 14.9cm - 18.4cm
    Medium: 16.3cm - 20.5cm

It was okay but won’t be buying again
Hey Nathan, sorry to hear that! That strap was discontinued because I recognised that the construction on it wasn't on par with what I expected as well, and my products since then have improved tremendously (you probably can tell from the photos alone). The strap was made in the early days of my business, when I was still sourcing my straps from different crafters. But I've since stopped getting from crafters where the quality isn't up to mark. And that's also why the strap is heavily discounted when sold to you. I don't ever wish for anyone to leave with a bitter taste, so I'll offer to replace the strap with one from our current crafters so you can see the difference in quality. Just pay for shipping, and I'll have it sent to you. Cheers! Regards, Ken
